I owe a lot to the GitHub platform. It hosts open-source programs for use and collaboration.
Now I have received an award on GitHub: Starstruck.
You get Starstruck when you have published at least one project that has received many ‘stars’. Stars, in turn, are awards given by individual users to express their appreciation for a project.
When I started publishing projects on GitHub about two years ago, I never thought I would receive awards. My motivation was simply to give something back.
After all, I have benefited greatly from open-source projects. Not monetarily, but as a basis for developing my programming skills. And for broadening my horizons about what can be achieved with self-developed software.
This reminded me that I myself don’t always give a star to a project that I have benefited from greatly and that I appreciate. I will change that from now on.
I am grateful for the opportunity the internet gave me to collaborate on projects with others over the internet.
